In the dreary pandemic winter of 2021, I created a series of photographs for Day + Night Magazine, a print ‘zine co-edited by Leonor Mamanna and Josef Reyes, and styled like a cassette. It features a collection of personal essays set in New York City, each celebrating the songs that conjures up a strong memory that underscores the contributor’s New York City life.

The theme for this shoot was the particular brand of loneliness brought on by over a year of quarantine and uncertainty about the future, physical and emotional nourishment via food and color, and the cozy moments to be found in quiet and solitude.
