WE GOT NEW BIKES TODAY

This piece was inspired by a series of photographs by Roland L. Freeman, taken in Baltimore in the 1960s and 70s. I love the contrast between the palpable joy on the faces of these little Black boys, and the grittiness of the street they play on, as well as the brightness of their new bikes shining against the darker backdrop.
