most days I want a big ole’ protein-packed breakfast with the works — strips of crispy bacon, with hard-boiled eggs, or even just a cutesy, demure portion of last night’s dinner. but most days, the easiest, quickest and most straight to the point breakfast is just some toast with butter and hot tea with a splash of almond milk.”

This is another illustration using a fountain brush pen for line work, and watercolor for the fill. I like using my breakfast as inspiration for a quick journal sketch. These entries have less to do with baring my soul, and are more of a satisfying exercise in bringing a small aspect of my day to life while playing with my supplies. Here I love the way the thick dark lines contrast the watery wash of color. I dig my own handwriting and how it looks with this brush! And I’m noticing the theme of pork all through my work, which is telling. Don’t judge me.
