MEDITATION AIN’T EASY

I’m hyped to do more line drawing and portraiture, especially using brush pens and watercolor brushes (and eventually gouache!). This was the first piece toward that goal, and I really like how it came out. The softness of watercolor makes blending really graceful and contrasts well with the strong black brush pen strokes. I’m going to challenge myself next time to use nontraditional colors to accomplish highlights and shadows, because I always really admire that multicolored skin tone look when I see it in other people’s artwork.
