GREASE

This illustration, done in that deliciously childlike, felt-textured, cut-paper collage style, is a nostalgic tribute to the various brands of grease that kept our hair supple and smooth over the years. I chose each jar based on my own childhood use and familiarity. I rarely use grease these days. But its memory lives on in the hearts and scalps of melanated peoples everywhere.
